ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

Lee’s Summit, Missouri

Job Description:
Lauber Municipal Law, LLC is seeking a qualified Associate Attorney to join our Lee's Summit, Missouri team. Our firm is rapidly growing and looking for a leader in the field of Municipal law to join us in providing high-quality legal representation, supporting more than 100 cities and villages in Missouri. The Position:
In this position you will be assigned to Assistant City Attorney, Litigation Attorney and/or Assistant City Prosecutor for numerous clients. This position will require you to assist Senior Attorneys in providing advice and counsel on municipal law matters, drafting documents, legal research, and helping to provide legal advice on complex legal issues. This position will also include attending some government meetings which are often in the evenings.

Candidates will possess excellent professional personality traits that allow them to operate in a team environment and to deal with the public on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of state and local government law, and be ready to learn more about this exciting field. Candidate should have litigation experience. Candidates should be self-motivated and situationally aware, with the ability to discern issues quickly and efficiently and confidently analyze legal questions. Current licensure in Missouri is required, and Kansas is a strong plus.

Required Qualifications:

Basic understanding of:

  • State and local government law,
  • Land use law, and administrative law;
  • Robert’s Rules of Order;
  • Missouri Sunshine Law;
  • Contract review and legislation

Ability to:

  • Read, interpret, apply, and explain statutes, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures;
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others;
  • Travel locally

Required Experience and Education:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited university;
  • Current license in MO required,
  • current license in Kansas a plus
